Position Summary:
The Policy Analyst and Advocacy Manager will lead Acreol’s policy research, strategy development, and external advocacy efforts to influence positive change in areas aligned with the organization’s mission—such as child rights, gender equity, community development, or social protection. The role combines sharp analytical skills with political acumen to develop evidence-based policy positions and drive high-impact advocacy campaigns with governments, donors, and civil society.
Key Responsibilities:
● Conduct in-depth policy analysis on key issues related to Acreol’s mission (e.g., gender, child protection, education, social inclusion).
● Monitor and assess national and regional policy environments, identifying advocacy opportunities and threats.
● Design and implement advocacy strategies to influence legislation, funding priorities, and policy implementation.
● Develop high-quality policy briefs, position papers, and reports for diverse audiences, including policymakers, donors, and the media.
● Lead or support coalition-building with partner NGOs, networks, and movements to amplify shared advocacy goals.
● Represent Acreol in high-level meetings, conferences, working groups, and public forums.
● Provide technical input to programs to ensure alignment with policy trends and contribute to evidence generation from field activities.
● Train and mentor program staff on policy engagement, influencing techniques, and advocacy communications.
● Track and report on advocacy outcomes and policy shifts resulting from organizational efforts.
Qualifications and Experience:
● Master’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, or related field.
● Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in policy analysis, advocacy, or government relations within the NGO, public, or academic sector.
● Demonstrated ability to influence policy through strategic campaigns, partnerships, and evidence-based advocacy.
● Strong understanding of legislative and policy-making processes at national and international levels.
● Experience working with grassroots movements, coalitions, and/or marginalized communities is highly desirable.
● Familiarity with rights-based approaches and gender-sensitive policy frameworks.
Skills and Competencies:
● Excellent research and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly and persuasively.
● Strong public speaking and negotiation skills.
● Proven ability to develop and manage advocacy strategies.
● Political awareness and ability to work in complex and sensitive policy environments.
● Strong organizational and leadership skills; able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
● Fluency in [English/French/Other relevant language]; local language proficiency is an asset.
