Mitigating deficits in the number of oncologists with treatment compliance; follow-up and patient-reported outcomes for breast cancer patients using an AI-powered app.

Thursday 8 May 2025, by Webmaster

In Rwanda, where the ratio of oncologists to cancer patients is critically low, innovative solutions are essential to bridge the gap in care. ACREOL Global, in collaboration with Hurone AI, is piloting Gukiza, an AI-powered app designed to support breast and pediatric cancer patients throughout their treatment journey. By providing personalized disease and treatment explanations, facilitating side effects management, and enabling second-opinion consultations with global experts, Gukiza empowers patients while optimizing oncologists’ time. This study aims to assess the app’s impact on treatment compliance, patient-reported outcomes, and overall quality of care—paving the way for AI-driven healthcare solutions tailored to Africa’s unique needs.
