We are excited to share that our Executive Director Dr. Christian Ntizimira was featured by Cancer World in a conversation on palliative care, the work of ACREOL Global in Rwanda, and the transformative power of community through an African lens.
Palliative care is not optional.
Not secondary.
Not a final chapter.
It is an essential pillar of oncology, as important to dignity as chemotherapy and radiotherapy are to treatment.
Because patients and families do not only need medicine. (…)

When a person reports humiliation and harm, the answer cannot remain hidden inside an institution.”

Our Executive Director, Dr. Christian Ntizimira, shared this powerful reflection after an experience that challenged the very principle he has dedicated his life to defending: dignity.

@acreolglobal A Mother's Love in Every Step of Palliative Care 💐 This Mother's Day, we celebrate every mother who gives love, strength, compassion and care with dignity and hope. In palliative care, mothers are not only caregivers; they are comforters, advocates, listeners, and a source of dignity within families. Their presence reminds us that care goes beyond medicine; it is found in holding a hand, preparing a meal, managing pain with patience, and staying close when life becomes fragile.
On Labor Day, our team stepped away from the usual office rhythm for a refreshing outing at Kigali Universe, sharing games, laughter, and time together beyond work.
🎳From arcade fun and friendly bowling match, to the simple conversations along the way, the day gave us space to reconnect and appreciate the #TeamWork that carries our commitment to palliative care every day.

A holistic approach to care takes a team. At Gatonde District Hospital, palliative care is being shaped through a multidisciplinary approach, where diverse professionals come together to care for patients and their families.
Here, care is understood across:
✨Physical needs: managing pain and symptoms
✨Emotional and psychological needs: responding to distress and fear
✨Social and cultural realities: recognizing family roles and context
✨Spiritual needs: acknowledging beliefs and dignity (…)
